Abstract

Optical engineering is currently evolving more rapidly than at any previous time. A series of optical and medical engineering innovations, promising to create new types of intelligent optical diagnostic technology, have been developed at Warwick University through interaction between Engineering, Computer Science and Medical Science. Some combustion and medical applications emerging from this exchange are reviewed, the commonality being in many cases both in the instrumentation and the data processing applied.
