Strontium barium niobate (SBN) is a kind of the excellent pyroelectric materials. The infrared sensors used SBN thin films Would be smaller and smarter. Highly oriented SBN thin films have been grown on MgO and LSCO/MgO substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). XRD theta - 2theta scans indicate single phase crystalline SBN layers with the {00l} orientation perpendicular to the plane of the substrate. SBN thin film on LSCO/MgO shows good ferroelectric and pyroelectric property and particularly suitable for application to pyroelectric detector.
