In this paper directional Compton profiles of Mo are presented and the results compared with LCGO and APW model calculations. Both electronic structure models describe qualitatively the anisotropy of the electron momentum distribution, which is influenced by the Fermi surface topology. However, the absolute profiles indicate that electron-electron correlation effects are inadequately described within the local density approximation. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
