Abstract
The first part of the article considers some of the sociological insights yielded by the literary and filmic representation of second-generation Turks in the Federal Republic particularly with regard to problems of social integration. Always more than a mere reflection of social reality, however, migrant culture has increasingly exhibited the capacity to 'explore the possible beyond the given' as the article demonstrates by considering the utopian projections of the multicultural society in the work of the writer Alev Tekinay and the director Tevfik Baser.
