Abstract

Glucocorticoids are known to affect calcium balance but are not thought to cause clinically significant hypocalcemia. This case adds to a list of isolated reports noting significant hypocalcemia developing post administration of glucocorticoids in a patient with known hypoparathyroidism, postulating PTH deficiency as a risk factor of decompensated calcium homeostasis.
