Abstract

The complexing characteristics of three macrocyclic polyamines, bearing {bis-2,2-bipyridyl)-2,2'-bypiridyl-5-yl-methyl}Ru(II)-pendent arms, towards Cu(II) and Ni(II) in aqueous systems have been investigated by luminescence quenching. There are large differences in the stability constants values when compared to the corresponding complexes formed by the patent compounds 9N3, 12N4. This is explained using molecular models of the free ligands and their transition metal complexes.
