UNSPECIFIED (1997) Past patterns, present prospects: social work in the Czech Republic. INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL WORK, 40 (4). 425-&. ISSN 0020-8728Full text not available from this repository.
The article reviews past patterns of social work provision in the Czech Republic and developments following the ''Velvet Revolution'' of 1989. Social work's prospects in a pluralist policy context are considered in relation to: the reliance on informal care; the impact of divorce; the effects of economic policy; the difficulties in developing voluntary and commercial care provision; and the lack of clarity concerning the role of the state. Tentative conclusions are reached concerning the implications for social work.
