The structure of the title compound, C17H16O4, Obtained as the major product of the biotransformation of a diacetylated desoxybenzoin using porcine pancreatic lipase, has been confirmed. The molecule is twisted with an angle of 79.0(1)degrees between the two aromatic rings.
