Abstract

Opposition to vaccines is not a new phenomenon but positions once associated with traditional religious or conservative viewpoints have given way in our own day to some highly disparate views that, in many cases, transcend traditional left/right/religious divisions. In this paper we review recent literature on the way in which social media has contributed to the spread of conspiracy theories around Covid 19 and mass vaccination programmes.
