Abstract
In Reply We agree with Dr Pérez-Fernández and colleagues’ general point that the clinical effectiveness of a noninvasive respiratory strategy may be influenced by its delivery. It is uncertain, however, whether protocolizing aspects of CPAP delivery, such as level of PEEP and treatment duration, or permitting the incorporation of pressure support in the RECOVERY-RS randomized clinical trial1 would have influenced the observed treatment effect.
