Abstract

A major handbook on industrial relations is reviewed. The handbook provides a synthesis of recent research, with an emphasis on the United States and the United Kingdom. It shows the vitality of the field and its ability to address new issues. As in the field itself, theorization is strong but implicit. The handbook captures what has been done in the field; it leaves open the challenge of theoretical advance and application to international and global questions.
