Abstract

A glucose-appended bio-compatible Ir(iii) complex which absorbs light strongly, photo-catalytically oxidizes cellular coenzymes NAD(P)H, and decreases the mitochondrial membrane potential, resulting in cancer cell apoptosis and necrosis.
