Abstract

While teachers of all subjects have made use of projects for many years, there has been a steady increase in interest in project-based learning to engage and inspire learners in the English language classroom over the last decade at primary, secondary and tertiary levels, paralleled by increasing evidence of its positive impact on learning and engagement (e.g. Astawa et al., 2017). This article provides an original definition for project-based learning for TESOL, examples of possible project types and a framework that teachers can use to plan and implement projects in the English language classroom.
