Abstract
New vehicles face a number of legally required tests at the end of their development. If any problems arise at this stage then significant additional costs can occur as well as delays in the launch of the vehicle. It is therefore beneficial to be able to predict the results of these tests earlier in the development cycle either by using earlier test procedures or by using predictive techniques. This paper summarises some of the results of research work which has examined the use of statistics in achieving this aim within two increasingly important technology areas, electromagnetic immunity and pass-by noise.
