Abstract

The 1990 NHS reforms brought in. major changes to the arrangements for corporate governance. These changes have not had the attention they deserve in the literature. The authors present large-scale empirical data which provide a preliminary assessment of the effects of this reorganization, highlighting areas of strengths and weaknesses.
