Abstract

The title compound, C12H11ClN2OS, is formed by the reaction between 6-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-methylthio-2-oxo-2H-pyran-3-carbonitrile and hydroxylamine hydrochloride in pyridine solution. The best plane through the five atoms of the isoxazole ring makes an angle of 10.48(8)degrees with the plane of the aromatic ring.
