Abstract

This paper presents new data derived from a survey of trade unionism within the private services sector of two contrasting regions. Comparative levels of unionism are found to be lower and more homogeneous than expected, suggesting that the nature of the expansion in the private services sector is eroding differences between local labour traditions.
