Abstract

A longitudinal case study investigates the impact of a new computer system which supports a small scale business process redesign project, on fee earners in a medium-sized English law firm. It attempts to learn from the effect of the system on the fee earners' activities and their attitudes towards their work and the system. The typical activities of a legal fee earner are tracked during a 2 year post-implementation period; changes during this time are identified and discussed. Lessons are drawn from the experience.
