Abstract

Products from the reaction of MCl5 (M = Nb or Ta) with acids RCO2H (R = aryl) include the tetranuclear tantalum oxo cluster [{TaCl2(mu-O)(O2CC6H4Me-p)}4] containing a Ta4O4 core, dinuclear [(NbCl3-(O2CR)}2(mu-O)], and the monosubstituted [TaCl4(O2CR)].
