Variable temperature O-17 NMR measurements have been performed on the Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 high temperature superconductor. The O-17 NMR shift associated with each of the two distinct Cu-O planes of the structure starts to decrease above the superconducting transition temperature and shows no anomalous behaviour near to T(c). This suggests that an energy gap is opening up above T(c). The temperature dependence of the shift of the two sites is different indicating that the susceptibility has a very local behaviour and the interaction between the two planes is very weak.
