Abstract

High resolution NMR data for the shift and spin-lattice relaxation time of the Y-89 resonance have been obtained for up to 70% Pr and up to 30% Nd substitution in Y1-xRxBa2Cu3O7. The shift data show that changes in spin susceptibility are small and there is no evidence in this data for hole filling in Pr-doped samples being the main cause of the quenching of T(c). The relaxation data demonstrate that the lifetime of the Pr moment must be very short (less-than-or-equal-to 10(-14) s for x < 0.4).
