Abstract

The synthesis of 15-(pyrrol-1-yl)methyl[benzo-15-crown-5] (I) is described. Electrochemical oxidation of (I) in acetonitrile produces a conducting polymeric film at the electrode surface. Although FT-ir studies confirm the presence of benzo-15-crown-5 groups within the film there is no evidence from cyclic voltammetry or from energy dispersive X-ray spectra for the incorporation of sodium ions into the films.
