Abstract

Electron microscopy studies are carried out on a series of thin film samples of Y1Ba2Cu3O7-delta prepared by plasma assisted laser ablation. The films show deposition of particulates of various sizes. The density and the size of the particulates are correlated with various growth parameters and the conditioning of the target surface. These studies have allowed us to compare the roles played by photoassisted ablation and thermal evaporation in the deposition of the films.
