Abstract
The REMM process is a holistic approach to reliability analysis and evaluation. It focuses on design for reliability and takes a proactive approach to reliability assessment. REMM is a collaborative UK funded research project that has spent the last 6 years investigating all aspects of design for reliability as well as reliability assessment and prediction.
Previous REMM papers have concentrated on describing the process, this paper, however, is concerned with the application of the process at 4 aerospace companies. Each of these businesses has implemented the process in a way that is relevant to their products and has therefore interpreted the process differently. The products described in this paper are all aerospace products but vary in their complexity and technology. This paper describes the challenges and questions each company required to be answered.
The paper will conclude by pulling all the experience together to give an evaluation of the REMM process including the pros and cons.
