Abstract

This essay investigates the role of Belgium in the period of heightened social movement mobilisation associated with "1968". Emphasis is placed on cultural ferment, unrest amongst students and workers, and the reconfigurations of the Belgian Left. The essay argues that Belgian developments largely parallel the evolution in other European states.
