Abstract

We explore a strange class of sums with alternating, but huge terms. Like with oscillatory integrals, the final sum is much smaller than the individual terms. Unlike oscillatory integrals, we know of no easy general explanation for this effect. In one particular case however, we are able to give a somewhat surprising explanation for it.
