Great numbers of women have taught for a century and a half now - teaching became a woman's job both statistically and by reputation some time before the First World War (Widdowson, 1980; Corr, 1983) - and, rare for work performed by women, they have written about it. They write, but they reveal very little about it as a process of labour, a job of work. [...]
