Abstract
Double rotation (DOR) NMR, which can be used to eliminate the second-order quadrupole broadening of NMR lines, is described. DOR can give isotropic spectra in the direct dimension with linewidths comparable to those of spin nuclei in solids. Examples are given showing that it is possible to deduce the chemical shift anisotropy and the Euler angles between the electric field gradient (EFG) and the shielding tensor from the sideband intensities, of 2-D homonuclear spin-diffusion DOR experiments which allow site assignment, and of MQDOR which, uniquely, allows the chemical shift and the EFG to be independently determined.
