Abstract
As part of the Department for Employment and Learning’s (DEL) Research Agenda, Innovation Lab (Ireland) Ltd were commissioned to draw together information on the investment in higher education R&D (HERD) and knowledge transfer outputs. Key findings presented in this article suggest that relative to other regions, HERD is resourced appropriately with investment in knowledge transfer activities in the NI universities being similar to that in other GB universities. In terms of technology transfer activities, while NI has significant strengths, weaknesses also exist relative to other UK regions
