Abstract
The paper describes an extended analytical framework for the governance of the labor market. The economic crisis has highlighted the way in which it was possible to employees in certain countries to maintain their consumption by real estate and consumer loans, despite the uncertain labor market positions. This points to the need to analyze the relationship between flexibility and security in labor markets to other aspects - not only political but also social and individual economic practices - to extend that influence this relationship. Individuals are seen as in a number of collectives Eingebundene whose life chances are determined collectively. These collectives are subject to different governance modes. The governance modes make use of one or more strategies to maintain a balance between security and insecurity: Risikoexternalisierung, time shifting of risk, internal risk subgroups or even shift to risk-sharing. The approach is then applied to the relevant policy and practice fields, in order to outline the range of possible regimes of social uncertainty processing.
