Abstract
he findings in the report are based on an analysis of a wide range of quantitative data about pupil characteristics, in terms of positive motivational and risk factors, and structural features of family background.
But it is also based on more dynamic aspects of the family context such as parents' educational aspirations; and school context and neighbourhood deprivation.
This research was undertaken to consider outcomes at age 16 in 2006, and in particular associations between ethnicity and educational attainment and progress over the entire secondary phase. This document is intended and should be read as an Appendix to the original report (ref: DCSF-RR002).
