Abstract

The LSC commissioned Professor Jonothan Neelands and the University of Warwick’s Centre for Educational Development Appraisal and Research (CEDAR) and the Institute for Employment Research (IER) to undertake an external strategic Review of the Dance and Drama Awards Scheme (DaDA) under the guidance of a Steering Group chaired by Christine Payne, General Secretary of Equity
. The aim of the Review has been to examine and determine the need for and focus of DaDA (which includes dance, drama, musical theatre and production skills), taking account of Government strategies and
funding regimes for skills development in other sectors. It also meets the commitment made by Government in response to the 2007 Dance Review by Tony Hall, to review the Dance and Drama Awards Scheme, with a view to ensuring a more coherent pathway for dance training for young people.
