Abstract

This book focuses on new research in understanding knowledge, attitudes and practices in health around the globe. Advances in medicine as well as computers and electronics have made possible remarkable gains in our understanding of diseases on all levels from the theoretical to the clinical. In addition, much of the population can instantly access many types of health knowledge on-line. Blending the old and new knowledge and getting it public under relentless attack from their own insurance companies and seeing doctors under non-stop pressure to see more patients and order less tests, have created a situation where an understanding or health knowledge by many is essential yet often worse than the ailment.
