Abstract

In the summer of 2004, seven summer schools were offered by the National
Academy of Gifted and Talented Youth (NAGTY). These were hosted by the
universities of Christchurch College, Canterbury; Durham, Exeter, Imperial College,
London; Lancaster, Warwick and York. The two new host sites were Imperial
College, London, and the University of Lancaster. The seven summer schools
catered for over 1 000 children, aged 11 to 16 years, and offered a choice of 53
courses (known as ‘strands’).
