Abstract

The WZ Sge type dwarf nova GW Lib was discovered in 1983 during its first outburst. The second known outburst occurred in April‐May 2007. Data from this outburst were obtained by AAVSO observers in the optical and by Swift in the UV and X‐ray bands. As a result, we have obtained the complete, multiwavelength outburst lightcurves of GW Lib, and have compared these to the only similarly complete dwarf nova outburst lightcurves, those of SS Cyg and U Gem. We find that the behaviour of these systems is not identical, and thus that some aspects of the understanding of the hard X‐ray emission in DNe may need further exploration.
