Abstract

The SEEDS 10th anniversary report commemorates 10 years of research work by this local authority association covering the Rest of the South East (ROSE) area. The report comprises a main report, a summary report and a set of case studies. Published in 1997, on the threshold of the new Labour government, the report's main recommendations were clearly well aimed at a new administration committed to devolution and regional structures. For those with a particular interest in the economy of the South East then this report provides an impressive insight into the recent economic experience of the region. Given the date of publication, it is hardly surprising that some of the statistical references are now three years out of date. While regional comparisons of SRB Rounds 1 and 2 are significant, the reader is left to guess what happened in Rounds 3 and 4.
