Abstract

The importance for observing the intention-to-treat approach in clinical studies is explained.
Intention-to-treat’ is a commonly heard mantra repeated by researchers and advocated in the CONsolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) statement for clinical trials.1 But exactly what is meant by an intention-to-treat analysis and why is it important?
