Abstract
Purpose of the study: Consistency in approach for case identification of OHCA is of central importance when comparing survival between ambulance services and contributing data to resuscitation trials.1 Optimal case ascertainment requires the researcher to understand and evaluate the traits, characteristics, and operating procedures of all data sources. This is particularly important if there are potential sources of bias or under reporting associated with the way cases may be identified at a source.
