Abstract
As clinicians working in the field of multiple sclerosis (MS), we find that it is evident from the moment an individual receives a diagnosis of MS, that they are transformed into a ‘person living with MS.’ 1 While most of us will see a small percentage of individuals who remain relatively symptom-free, these form the minority of our caseload and make relatively few demands on our services. The majority of our patients experience a multiplicity of interrelated physical, cognitive and psychosocial problems; which typically progress over time, and which are shown to unequivocally impact in a negative way on the quality of their lives and the lives of their families.
