Abstract
We report findings from a project studying the use of GPS tracking devices and their associated care services designed to support the independent living of people suffering from dementia. The aims included investigating the lived experiences of patients with dementia of personalised and GPS (Global Positioning System) tracking devices. The study reveals the often hidden ‘articulation work’ involved in making these devices usable and fit for purpose and emphasises that creating useful and usable mobile technology for older people is a challenge that goes beyond device user interface design.
