Abstract

Modification of a method for processing positive ion ionization efficiency curves of polyatomic molecules, its, developed earlier by Mark and coworkers, has been described. Based on the method, the first, second, and third ionization energies Of C-60 have been re-examined and found to be in excellent agreement with the most reliable literature data. The ionization energies for C60H18 and C60H36 have been measured for the first time and were established as 7.3 +/- 0.3 eV and 7.01 +/- 0.25 eV, respectively. Although the appearance energy of C60H362+ (18.7 +/- 0.2 eV) has been determined to be lower than that Of C-60(2+) (18.98 +/- 0.35 eV), the reverse scenario is true for the second ionization energies of C60H36 and C-60.
