Abstract
Among the most complicated matters of the ICC-Statute both in a legal and political sense — which at the same time is of utmost importance for its proper functioning and its international acceptance — is that of its jurisdictional range. Various conceptions and connotations of the term "jurisdiction" exist, ranging from fairly narrow constructions in which the term is applied solely to the exercise of the jurisdiction of the ICC to wider notions of jurisdiction encompassing not only ratione tertiis and ratione personae, but also ratione materiae and ratione temporis. For the purpose of this article, the broader notion of jurisdiction including all three areas is applied.
