Abstract

In this paper we first give three known examples of strict pivotal categories defined by a finite presentation. Then in the final section we give some of the relations for a conjectural strict pivotal category. If this category can be constructed it gives a ribbon category which specialises to the category of representations of the quantised enveloping algebra of a simple Lie algebra for any simple Lie algebra. This is the quantum group version of the universal Lie algebra introduced in [52] (available on his home web page).
