Abstract
The Macrolepidoptera of the remote Chagos Archipelago are listed and discussed, with notes on their biogeography. A checklist of the Microlepidoptera is given and a new noctuid moth is described, Stictoptera hironsi sp.nov., the St Valentine's Day moth, endemic to the Chagos islands. Reference is made to all the expeditions to the Chagos.
