Abstract
The area of electronics equipment for vehicles will continue to grow in importance with the emergence of telematics systems. Some of these systems will be likely to have a high rate of turnover, particularly in the sub-areas of driver assistance and route guidance. Previous experience within the consumer electronics industry suggests that this type of system may appeal to fashion-driven purchasers and be subject to frequent changes that occur more frequently than changes to the hose vehicle. The ability to update and develop particular telematics system variants for specialised markets will be provided by rapid development environments (that include models of the relevant infrastructure) and implemented via late configuration production systems.
