Abstract
mu SR and Y-89 MMR measurements have been carried out on Y(Ba1-xLax)(2)Cu3O7 for 0.0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.4, where T-c decreases with increasing doping. The extrapolated (T-->0) muon spin depolarization rate sigma(0) has a progressively smaller value as T-c becomes smaller, similar to the case of undoped YBa2Cu3O7-delta with decreasing oxygen content. Furthermore, the variation of the Y-89 Knight shift at room temperature with x in Y(Ba1-xLax)(2)Cu3O7 resembles that with delta in YBa2Cu3O7-delta This work thus suggests that changes in the hole density are closely associated with the reduction of T-c by La doping as in the case of oxygen depletion.
