Abstract
With the advent of the new millennium, the times seem propitious for books on millenarianism, apocalypticism, and the end of history. Curtis V. Bostick's study of these themes in the outlook of late medieval English Lollards prefers the designation "apocalypticism" to "millenarianism" on the grounds that the latter is burdened with negative connotations, implying a "sociological model" of eschatological thought inclined to think in terms of fanatical prophets proffering "phantasies of salvation" to the oppressed (the work of Norman Cohn is thoroughly chastised on this score) [...]
