Abstract
In a conference on the subject of Family in Antiquity to raise a discussion on incest can be considered
at least provocative. Nevertheless the incestuous marriage of Ptolemy II and Arsinoe Philadelphus was no ordinary
case. The instigator was a hellenistic king and pharaoh to Egypt and is commonly accepted as one of the greatest
