Abstract
This paper represents part of the early stage of a research project concerning international networks of manufacturers. Whilst it focuses on the relevance of English contract law to exchange relations, other national legal systems will be included later in the project. The paper relates classical contracting and the role of "trust" to networks that consist of independent enterprises, original equipment manufacturers and their key suppliers.
These relationships develop between independent enterprises that co-operate as a single economic unit, to develop and manufacture a single product. This type of collaboration forms a network of long-term term relationships.
