Abstract
This article investigates the importance of contextualisation when introducing new language in ELT, and documents changes in contextualisation practices through the communicative era. Drawing on research evidence, it proposes a simple 3-stage model; Context, Analysis, Practice (CAP) to help teachers understand and integrate context into their lessons effectively.
